What Are Thoughts?
If you look up any definition of “thought”, you will likely become frustrated with the responses. Most definitions, even direct from a dictionary source, will use the word in the definition; meaning that it is either extremely difficult to define, or that it is perhaps “indefinable”.
My explanation of what thoughts are may challenge your views, but that may be necessary. From my research, thoughts are information that is encoded and transmitted through waveforms (energy), and are interpreted through emotion (energy in motion) upon interaction with a person’s individual energy field. This interaction and decoding involves the emotion generated by the incoming information, coupled with words or visual images created in your mind that assist you with understanding what you are receiving.
Where Do Thoughts Come From?
To better explain where thoughts come from, I first feel it is necessary to share with you a new revelation in the scientific community, which explains where Memory is stored.
Researchers and Scientists have long worked at dissecting the brain (among other organs and systems) down to their smallest possible parts, to gain a better understanding of how each system operates. However, what they have discovered in recent years regarding memory has been remarkable (to say the least). It was believed for many years that the neurons and synaptic connections in the human brain were where information such as self-identity, memory, and thoughts would have been stored. This has now been proven to be false, as science is showing that memory is actually retrieved from the field of energy that emanates from (and surrounds) the body, not that it comes from within.
So what does this have to do with where thoughts come from? I believe that this understanding of Memory is also applicable to where our Thoughts stem from, as well. We live in a world of energy, which creates the illusion of solidity. To best illustrate this point, I ask you to think back to a very basic understanding of chemistry and physics: the smallest part of every existing thing is an atom. Your rational brain knows and understands this, but somehow neglects to remember that an atom is 99.9999999999999% “empty space” which is energy – not “matter” (that’s 13 9’s beyond the decimal, in case you are curious) . So whether we are discussing a chair, a plant, an animal, or a human being, we are not living in a solid world. We are energy that is in motion, and we are constantly interacting with the field of energy that surrounds us.
This is where thoughts come from: they are wavelengths (frequencies) that are encoded in the field of energy surrounding us, and we are constantly interacting with them, decoding them, and therefore engaging with them. It is why two people can be staring off into the same exact sunset, shoulder to shoulder, yet having two vastly different experiences. Each person is engaging with the field of energy from a different frequency (or viewpoint), and thus experiences a different reality.
How Can We Direct Our Thoughts To Our Advantage?
The first step in developing a method for directing your thoughts in a beneficial way is to start by recognizing the feeling that corresponds with them. Continuing from the scientific lens that we have previously explored, all thoughts are frequencies, and all emotions are energy in motion within the physical body. Knowing this, it becomes important to recognize that every thought that you have will also have a corresponding emotion (or feeling). When you are able to distinguish what emotion you are feeling, you will be able to recognize whether the thought or thought pattern that you are currently engaged with is something that you like (is beneficial to you), or one that is not serving you (a pattern that you don’t enjoy the feeling of).
Once you have begun the process of evaluating your moods and their corresponding thought patterns, you can then decide if you would like to change them. In many cases, writing out your most dominant or recurring thoughts, can help you in pinpointing exactly where you’re getting stuck. This doesn’t need to be an elaborate process – you can begin by writing down the 10 most dominant, and unfavorable thoughts that you find repeating (weekly, for example). When you have them on paper, it is then easier to look at them from a different perspective. Ask yourself: are these thoughts 100% factual, 100% of the time? You need to understand that thoughts are not facts, and most often, they are not even of your own choosing. Knowing this, you now have a choice: what thoughts would you like to have instead of these?
I recommend that for every thought that you write down as being a disempowering pattern, that you then choose the opposite of it to write down and replace it with. This will require repetition to become a habit, but when you are scanning your emotions throughout the day, you will notice when your feelings become undesirable, and then you can mentally refer yourself back to the statement that “thoughts are not facts”, and you can change the story that you tell yourself.
Scanning your body for tenseness, and looking to your emotions or mood as an indicator of the quality of your thoughts, you will then be in a much better position to begin rewiring your brain and body to the set of thoughts and beliefs about yourself and the world, that benefit you in a far greater way. Get creative – there is only one you, and that you is important. Make the most of your time here, and decide what it is that you want to experience in this life. You are far more powerful than you think.
